Liquid filters remove
impurities that occur in liquids. The liquid is passed through
a permeable substance where undesirable larger solid particles
cannot get through. The filter allows harmful particles to be
retained so that the liquid can be reused or recycled.
Liquid filters are
required by factories to keep wastewater within federal guidelines.
Microfilters are also used to remove impurities from drinking
water, making the water cleaner and better tasting. The most important
factor in choosing a filter is its permeability. The appropriate
porosity will hold back selected impurities while allowing the
fluid to pass through.
